The 490R and 490T pickups are the modern equivalents to the ’57 Classic pickups. The 490Rs have a 4-wire connection cable with which various switching variants are possible (coil-split, series, parallel). The 490R and 490T each have different spacing of the pole screws to better compensate for the widening of the strings towards the bridge. Both pickups feature vintage Alnico magnets. The 490R is built into most Gibson guitars as a neck pickup and is often combined with the 490T or the 498T.
