Greuter Audio Colour Boost
SKU: 1208-1F10772Currently in stock in purple with white print.
The Greuter Boost with Colour has the same circuitry as the Greuter Boost, but with input capacitance control and a switchable active tone control.
Based on the legendary Treble Booster. Boosts the treble and makes the guitar sound dirty with slight distortion. The Greuter Boost is not a Clean Boost. It asserts itself very well in the mix and supports harmonics that lead nicely into feedback. Works very well with distorted low wattage tube amps.
Good for reproducing legendary guitar sounds: Eric Clapton (Beano and Cream), Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Ritchie Blackmore (early Deep Purple, Tony Iommi (early Black Sabbath), Marc Bolan (T-Rex), Brain May (Queen), just to name a few.
Hand-wired, point-to-point, true bypass, Switchcraft jacks, large knobs, selected and calibrated NOS germanium transistor, NOS capacitors (Philips and Tropical Fish).
Since most germanium transistors have different polarity than modern silicon transistors, they cannot be powered with a normal 9V adapter.
The Greuter Colour Boost has an internal circuit to reverse the polarity. So you don’t have any problems with empty batteries and you don’t need a special adapter.
Controls:
Volume: The more volume, the more inherent distortion.
Tone1: Controls the input capacity from Bass to Treble Boost.
Tone2: Active tone control. Shifts your guitar sound into the stratosphere, this not simply from dull to bright. On 0 it sounds like it is switched off and then starts to push out the lower mids. From 8, the upper mids and highs are raised. This all happens very organically. Difficult to describe, but simply great for teasing out flashy 50s and 60s sounds.
Works with a normal 9 volt adapter (negative ground), e.g. 1Spot 9V adapter or Boss 9V adapter (not included).
