British royality has arrived!
We are proud to offer this gem: The Vox AC-30/6 from 1964, the archetype of the AC-30 as it is known today. Produced from 1961, the AC-30/6 was the first version of the 30 watt combo with three independent channels, each with two inputs. The “Treble” version of the AC-30/6 was first available in 1964. In the treble version, the capacitor values have been adjusted to allow more high frequencies to pass through. This was the answer to the demand for a brighter sound that cuts through the mix better.
This AC-30/6 is in superb original condition. Only the rectifier tube needed replacing. For this, our tech used a New Old Stock Ultron GZ34 – a Mullard style tube made by Toshiba in the 1960s. The plug for connecting the speakers was reinforced with a small piece of pickguard material by a previous owner.
The sound is absolutely incredible! Cranked up to the max, it goes into a breathtaking overdrive with crisp and tight compression. Connect a Rangemaster Treble Booster and achieve the perfect Brian May sound!
