Back to the roots: The Refresh 2025 D-28 once again features the neck profile, bridge shape, steeply angled nut, and characteristic bracing pattern of the legendary guitars from Martin’s golden era (late 1920s to 1942).

Since its introduction in the early 1930s, the Martin D-28 has influenced countless musicians and played a key role in shaping the sound of modern acoustic music. Among the famous artists who have played a D-28 are Joni Mitchell, Molly Tuttle, David Gilmour, John Frusciante, and Jimmy Page. Today, the D-28 is considered the most important acoustic guitar ever made. Its dreadnought body delivers the powerful, room-filling sound that made the D-28 famous: strong, rich bass, clear treble, and complex overtones.

The D-28 features a solid Sitka spruce top and solid Indian rosewood back and sides. Golden Era (GE) scalloped X-bracing provides a particularly lively response, greater projection, and a warm, resonant tone with genuine vintage flair. The neck with GE Modified Low Oval profile and 25.4″ (645 mm) scale length plays comfortably and effortlessly, whether you’re strumming hard, flatpicking fast, or fingerpicking gently.
Visually, the D-28 remains true to its classic appearance: antique white bindings, an ebony fingerboard with mother-of-pearl dots, a vintage-inspired bridge design with bone saddle and pins, a bone nut and open-gear nickel tuners.
