The Jim Kelley FACS Reverb Head from 1983 is a true masterpiece from the heyday of American boutique amplifiers. Jim Kelley founded his company in California in the late 1970s and quickly established a reputation for his precise craftsmanship, exceptional reliability, and unmistakably rich, musical sound. The FACS (“Foot Activated Channel Switching”) Reverb Head offers two channels and a warm, room-filling spring reverb. With approximately 60 watts from 6V6 power tubes, it delivers brilliant, crystal-clear cleans as well as harmonically saturated overdrive sounds and an incomparably direct playing feel.
A special highlight is the accompanying power soak, which allows you to drive the amp into saturation and enjoy the distinctive tube compression and distortion even at moderate volumes—perfect for the studio or smaller stages. This feature was far ahead of its time and makes the FACS an extremely versatile tool for sophisticated musicians. Eric Johnson, David Lindley, Lee Ritenour, and Mark Knopfler, among others, relied on the unique sound and dynamics of these amps.
