Our Martin expert, Yonca Özen, visited Martin Guitars in Nazareth, Pennsylvania, in October 2025. While there, she had the opportunity to select the finest woods that Martin reserves for truly special instruments: mahogany that has arguably the most intense flame, “wild grain” rosewood, flamed koa from Hawaii, or antique mahogany—we have never before seen such a spectacular selection of rare woods.
Using these fine tonewoods, Yonca and the team at Martin Custom Shop have created a limited series of unique guitars. This GITARREN TOTAL Custom collection has finally arrived! We invite you to come experience these rare, one-of-a-kind instruments in our store.
00- Custom Sunburst Wild Grain East Indian Rosewood

Inspired by a 1930 OM that we had the privilege of examining at the Martin Museum: This wonderful instrument gave us the idea to commission a guitar in the authentic style of the 1930s, complete with banjo tuners and without the Martin logo on the headstock. A special highlight is the sunburst finish, which the experts at the Martin Custom Shop reproduced based on photos of a guitar.

Inspired by the Hawaiian music craze of the 1920s: Starting in 1915, interest in Hawaiian culture and music in the U.S. skyrocketed! Martin followed this trend and, in the decades that followed, regularly used genuine Hawaiian koa wood to build guitars and ukuleles. We had this 00 custom-made with period-correct bracing, a square bridge, and black bindings to fully capture the classic Martin design of the early 20th century.
The result: This 00 Custom Figured Koa features a beautifully bright, piano-like sound with clear mids and perfectly defined bass.

We are thrilled to offer you this unique guitar: a 00 12th Fret featuring what is arguably the most spectacular mahogany we’ve ever seen! No bindings, no pickguard, a small square bridge—we deliberately kept the design simple so that the mahogany takes center stage.
D-Custom Wild Grain East Indian Rosewood

Two beautiful rosewood pieces with particularly broad grain patterns were simply destined to become a Dreadnought! We based the design on a “Golden Era” D-28 and subtly incorporated design elements from the high-end D-42 model.

It doesn’t get any rarer than this: All Sinker Mahogany!
Most of the time (if at all…), Martin offers this rare wood exclusively for back and sides. Naturally, we couldn’t pass up such a rare set that included a matching top, so we had this magnificent 00 12-fret guitar built from it. The result is a guitar made of antique mahogany that sounds exceptionally pure and lively, weighing just 1.7 kg. Don’t miss out on this rare opportunity!

One of our absolute favorite body shapes is the often-underrated 0000 (Quad-0). Legend has it that in the 1960s, New York-based luthier Matt Umanov converted a Martin F-9 archtop jazz guitar into a flat-top, thereby creating the very first “0000.” This body shape is almost as wide at the lower bout as a Dreadnought, though less deep and significantly more tapered. The result: The 0000 delivers a magnificent, voluminous bass that never overpowers the mids and highs.
