The Gladio is inspired by Robben Ford’s “Dumble” sound. But what is this Dumble-style overdrive sound that is so often described? This question is not easy to answer because every guitar amp built by Alexander “Howard” Dumble was “built to order” and tailored to the buyer.
Many “Dumble” pedals therefore promise a sound that is too versatile to be captured in a small box. Linda and Emilio from Cornerstone Music Gear take a different approach: With their Gladio pedal they interpret the sound of Robben Ford’s Dumble Overdrive Special. Thus, the Gladio can be safely called a Dumble-style pedal because the role model actually exists!
The overdrive sound of the Gladio is incredibly transparent, with crisp compression and beautiful warmth. The individual notes sing clearly out of the mix and the overall feel is very inspiring. In summary, the Gladio is a beautiful and noble sounding low to medium gain distortion pedal that will enhance the sound of any rig.
The Gladio SC is the space-saving and less expensive single-channel version of the Gladio.
