We rarely get to see such a beautiful sounding vintage Gibson Acoustic. With its sparkling highs, harmonic overtones and delicate basses, this Southern Jumbo from 1963 is the perfect strumming guitar. With its “mixed and mastered” sound, this Southern Jumbo feels at home in a studio or recording environment. It also shows incredible potential as an inspiring songwriting tool to play in the living room.

The condition of this guitar, which is over 60 years old, is very good considering its age. Apart from the usual signs of play and a small crack in the back (visible in the third photo, bottom left), it shows no signs of damage. The height adjustable bridge that Gibson used in the 60’s was replaced by a more common narrow bone bridge inlay. The wide slot of the original bridge was professionally filled with rosewood and cleanly re-slotted. The playability is wonderful. We were able to set a low string action which is very comfortable for light strumming or fingerstyle.

You must try this Southern Jumbo on your next visit.
