The queen of archtop guitars!

The Gibson Super 400 is clearly one of the most grandiose of all jazz guitars: With 18″ (45.7cm) body width, fretboard inlays and truss rod cover made of genuine mother of pearl and the finest figured maple on sides, back and neck, the Super 400 is an absolutely stunning sighting. The sound, partly owing to the hand-carved spruce top, is incredibly pure, warm and of overwhelming clarity without being sharp in any way. In the attack it has a “plop” as we expect from a jazz guitar of this sort.

The Super 400 CES (Cutaway Electric Spanish) was a real rarity even during its production period. Only a few dozen per year were produced by Gibson until 2016. Since the sale of the Gibson manufacturing plant in Memphis, none of these masterpieces have left the halls of Gibson. Accordingly rare are these to be found today and we are enormously happy to offer you this beauty!

This Super 400 CES Sunburst from 2011 is in very good condition with only minimal playing marks. It has been expertly checked, maintained and adjusted with 12 gauge flatwounds in our own workshop and is now ready to go back into action.
