“If we starve the anodes with low voltage, the tube really just works as a filter” says Ibanez’ Electronics Engineer John Lomas. At full anode voltage, the tube amplifies linearly and acts as a true preamp tube. The result is that even solid-state amps sound like tubes the distortion is fat yet tight working with high voltage on the anodes of the 12AX7 (ECC83) tube and this brings a vastly improved sound compared to the previous model.
