Tyko Runesson is a unique guitar maker. In his atelier in Winterthur, Switzerland, he makes instruments that bear his unique signature.
This is one of three electric guitar prototypes.
The body is made of one piece of hollowed out basswood with an extremely heavily flamed maple top. The maple neck has a walnut fingerboard. For reasons of sustainability, all woods are of Swiss origin.
Typical for Tyko Runesson’s creations are the ingenious details: The “reversed” brass top nut allows the string pressure to be precisely adjusted to the zero fret. This allows you to influence the string tension and thus the feel. The neck angle can be adjusted with the Allen screw on the back of the neck joint (for quick switching between slide and fingerstyle setup). A built-in K&K Twin Spot can be mixed smoothly with the DeArmond style pickups.
Tyko Runesson uses traditional shellac as finish, which is applied very elaborately and very thinly. Shellac has an extremely pleasant feel and allows the wood to vibrate optimally.
This guitar has an exceptionally brilliant and sweet sound, is wonderfully light (2.2kg) and conveys an incomparable “time travel” playing feeling.
